Those who depart from the faith

Paul said to Timothy in 1 Timothy 4v1,

"Now the Spirit expressely says that in the later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons"

A few verses later he advises him,

"If you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed. Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness" 1 Timothy 4v6-7

Again Paul warns Timothy that "in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal....." and so the list goes on! In verse 5 he warns "having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people."

Paul warns Timothy to teach people not to be influenced by such people. The sad truth of our day is that some people do seem to start out so well but then get
